Audition Requirements: 2024-25

String Auditions
Video Requirements: Play your audition in the order indicated in your excerpts below i.e. scales, excerpt, prepared piece. Video should be unedited and done in a single take. There will NOT be a sight reading requirement as indicated below. Note that students should play the entire prepared piece or movement. Note that you should prepare just ONE of the excerpts (if you are auditioning for YAO you must play one of the “YAO” excerpts
Winds & Brass Auditions
Video Requirements (play in this order for your video submission). Video should be unedited and done in a single take.
- Play all 12 major scales from memory over the range of the instrument (i.e. SC Senior Band Scale requirements, which can be found here.)
- Then the required excerpt(s) for your instrument below. Pay attention to directions on the excerpts themselves.
Young Artist Orchestra Wind and Brass Excerpts
Percussion Auditions
Percussion auditions for both orchestras will consist of specified orchestral excerpts and sight reading. Please prepare as much of the excerpts as you are able with the instruments you have access to. Your audition video may have cuts as you move between instruments.
