Our Musicians

Musicians in the 5 Greenville County Youth Orchestras are some of the most talented orchestral musicians in the upstate.   They come from public, private and home school settings and generally are in grades 6 - 12 (though elementary age students who show exceptional talent and/or skill level may be admitted).   All students are admitted based on audition.  Placement in our ensembles is based on skill level, not age or school grade.  If you are interested in auditioning please see our orchestra descriptions and audition guidelines then submit an online audition application.

Membership Fees:
2012-2013 Young Artist Orchestra Concert Fee: $150.00
2012-2013 The Philharmonic Concert Fee:  $75.00
2012-2013 Sinfonia, and Chamber Strings Concert Fees:  $15.00
2012-2013 Jr. Sinfonia Concert Fee:  $10.00

Concert Fees are payable to the GCYO Association at the beginning of the school year. These funds help to defray the many costs associated with providing the exceptional orchestral education experienced by our students.  To "ease the financial burden", students are given the opportunity to "earn" their concert fee by selling program ads for our season program booklet.  Inability to pay the fee due to financial difficulties will not prohibit a student from participating.  Please contact executive director Holly Caprell at holly.caprell@gcyo.net with any concerns.

In addition to the concert fee, HIGH SCHOOL students who are selected for the Philharmonic or Young Artist Orchestra and do not reside in Greenville County will be required to pay tuition of $368.00 to the Greenville County School District.
